About

History of Grau Ranch

The Grau Ranching operation located in Grady, New Mexico was established in 1906 when early pioneer, C.A. Grau, migrated to the plains of Eastern New Mexico. The ranch has now been in existence for 114 years. The first half century the family raised registered Herefords and then, in 1965, made the switch to Charolais and have never looked back. Grau Ranch started a very progressive performance program with the Charolais breed and have since produced and sold heifers and bulls to ranchers across 30 states in the U.S., 15 states in Mexico, and one state in Canada. Through the years, we have linebred this herd producing exceptional performance and quality choice. As a result, Grau Ranch sired the Grand Champion Steer at the Empire Beef Days in Kansas and have topped numerous sales on Superior Livestock Video Auctions. For the past several years, Grau bulls consistently weigh between 750-800 lbs. on average at 205 day weaning weights with several weighing between 900-1000 lbs. One calf weighed 1032 lbs. and currently is one of our major herd sires. Our genetic base is primarily Supreme bloodlines outcrossed with several of the best polled performance sires in America.
