A Charolais bull from Grau Ranch, of Grady, NM, broke the average gain per day record recently at the annual Tucumcari Bull Test.
   One of the first bull test centers in the nation was established 33 years ago at Tucumcari, NM.
    Some far seeing individuals had a true interest in establishing a standardized test that would provide the cattlemen a method of identifying bulls with a superior genetic ability for growth and feed efficiency.

their Angus cattle, and Glenn Burroughs, with his Polled Hereford, were two of the co-operators who participated in the first test.  They still participate today. 
    This testing is open to any breeder with bulls that meet the criteria and is only limited by the number of available pens, with consideration given to prior consignors.
Grau Bull Tops Test
Tumumcari, N.M. - A Charolais bull with a 4.46 average  daily  gain owned by  A.L. Grau, Grady, N.M., leads the 112 day weigh-in at the Tucumcari Bull Test here reported test officials. The test involves Charolais,  Angus, Herefords, Polled Herefords and Simmentals.
The sire of the test leader is GCR Supreme 141 This marks the sixth year in a row that a "141" has led  this test.

Grau Charolais Tops Tucumcari Bull Test 7th Straight Year
    Tumcumcari. N.M. — For the seventh year in a row bulls from Grau Charolais, Grady. N.M..have been either the high indexing or high gaining  in weight per day on test in the official 140-day Tucumcari bull test.
    
All of the test-toppers have been sons of Grau's sire, GCR Supreme 141, with the test just ended being led by one of his sons that gained an even 600 pounds for 4.29

pounds per day in the test.  Grau had 11 bulls in this test. 
    
The ration fed in the test is a very high roughage at beginning and is still 40 percent roughage at the end of the tests.
    
Grau's bull which topped this test will be one of those selling in the Tucumcari Performance Tested Bull Sale at the test center March 18.
